SOUTH PARIS — The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Oxford Hills planning committee invites cancer survivors, caregivers, families, schools, companies and civic organizations to come to a kickoff event at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
Attendees will receive information packets about this year’s event and a first-hand look at what it means to participate in Relay For Life.
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is an overnight community celebration where individuals and teams camp out and take turns walking around a track relay style to raise funds, while celebrating the lives of those who have had cancer, remembering those lost and fighting back against the disease.
At nightfall, participants light hundreds of luminaria around the track in a ceremony to honor cancer survivors as well as friends and family members lost to the disease.
For more information, contact Mac Watts at the American Cancer Society at 373-3704 or [email protected]. More information is also available at the event’s website: at www.relayforlife.org/oxfordhillsme.
