Class luncheon

RUMFORD — The Stephens High School Class of 1951 will hold its monthly luncheon at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at River Valley Grill. All classmates are welcome. For more information, call 364-8883.

Christmas in Carthage

CARTHAGE — The Carthage Historical Society will hold its “Christmas in Carthage” at the Carthage Historical Museum at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11. A potluck supper will open the evening, so members are asked to bring a favorite dish. Entertainment will follow.

Quilters to meet

RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street, for a holiday tasting party.

Members should note the time change for this meeting only, and they should bring a place setting and small food portions to share. Unwrapped baby items will be collected for a “Newborn in Needs” baby shower. Show and Tell will be welcome.

After the Festival of Trees on Saturday, Dec. 11, the RAQ decorated tree will be on display at the Rumford Community Home and the ornaments may be purchased.

If school is cancelled, RAQ will not be held. All area quilters are welcome. For more information, call 562-7050.

 Santa, craft fair

ANDOVER — The Andover Firemen’s Association is having a craft fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Andover Fire Station. Crafters will be let in at 9 a.m. and Santa will arrive at 1 p.m.

Interim minister

MEXICO — The Mexico Congregational Church, United Church of Christ (the “Green Church”), will welcome a new interim minister on Sunday, Dec. 12, at its 9 a.m. worship service.

Connie Insley has a background in church administration and has completed her seminary studies. She is in the process of meeting requirements for ordination. All are invited to attend the worship service, when the Third Sunday of Advent will be observed.

In the afternoon of Dec. 12 the church choir will join in a Christmas cantata with the choir of the Rumford United Methodist Church. The cantata will be at 2 p.m. at the Rumford church.

Grange winners

RUMFORD — Rumford Grange 115 has announced the winners of the raffle drawings from the bake and craft sale on Nov. 15. The prizes were mostly donated by local businesses and individuals.

The Grange quilt handcrafted by Dottie Adams was won by Florence Merrill. Two winners for Country Hair Shed hair cuts were Dian Milligan and Ann Kezel. One cord of firewood donated by Brian Worcester was won by Stan Howe.

Two barbecue propane refills donated by Community Energy were won by Vicki Clark and Dick Stearns. Saddleback ski tickets were won by Greg Parks. The House of Beauty donated a tanning session that was won by Ceine Lizotte.

A Sunday River gift card was won by Tim Chambers. Wendell Easter donated an hour of mowing or tilling and Judy Sanborn was the winner. Lloyd’s Greenhouse donated a gift certificate that was won by Steve Seams.

Mary Murphy won a gas card donated by ANA Variety. A gift certificate from Route 2 Diner was won by Florence Merrill. Erica Dyer and Donna Worcester won an oil change a lube donated by Duke’s Auto.
