OES to celebrate
LISBON FALLS — Pioneer Chapter 11 Lisbon Falls, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Ancient York Masonic Hall, Route 196. Members will celebrate Christmas, and refreshments will follow the meeting. All members of the order are invited.
Snowmobile course
POLAND — A snowmobile safety course, sponsored by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, will be held Saturday, Dec. 18, at Poland Spring Academy, Bailey Hill Road. It will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and costs $5.

Poets to appear
WINTHROP —The Pondtown Poets will appear at the Charles M. Bailey Public Library at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18. The group will discuss and perform selected readings from their latest book, “Pondtown Poetry II,” the second release from the Central Maine poets.
The Pondtown Poets have been together since January 2003. They are Judy Feinstein of Hallowell, Alice Gifford and Sally Joy of Augusta, Susan J. Parks of Winthrop and Gaylord Day Weston of Belgrade.

Raffle winners
LEWISTON — Steven Dostie, executive director, announces the winners of the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society’s “Cold Paws, Warm Heart.”
With more than $11,300 in tickets sales the winners were: Susanna Chatametikool of Lewiston, $600 in home heating oil; Garet and Marciana of Topsham, $300 in home heating oil; Lorraine St. Hilaire of Lewiston, $200 in home heating oil; and Amy Landry of Bryant Pond, $100 in home heating oil.
All proceeds from the raffle directly benefit the humane society, located at 55 Strawberry Ave.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Dec. 7 were as follows:
First, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements; second, Nancy Lindgren and Les Buzzell; third, Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos; fourth, Luke Merry and Rosemarie Goodwin; first in B, Alberta Turner and Lue Bilodeau; second, Kathleen Burden and Mary Ann Trafton.
Winners at Schooner Estates in Auburn on Dec. 8 were: first, Les Buzzell and John Hackett; second, Tom Dahlberg and David Wallace; third, Anna Vitiello and Claire Lyons.
