TURNER — One person was hurt in a Route 4 collision Monday that began when a driver “floated” through an intersection during the evening commute, police said.

John Barbioni, 51, of Turner drove his Kia Sportage past a stop sign at the end of Lower Street, State Police Trooper Nathan Jamo said. He then struck the rear of a Ford Edge driven by Lisa Punch, 42, of Hartford.

“It was a low-impact crash,” Jamo said. The accident happened about 5:45 p.m.

Punch’s vehicle went off the road and rolled. She was treated at the scene for minor scratches, the trooper said. Barbioni complained of neck pain and was taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center.

Jamo said he was unsure why Barbioni missed the intersection.

“He is from the area,” Jamo said. “It shouldn’t have surprised him.
