Isaiah Cufiero spins Gimel while playing Dreidel, a traditional Hanukkah game, during the Paris Public Library’s After-School Program. Spinning Gimel allowed Isaiah to “take the whole kitty” of beans. At the end of the game children could swap the beans they used as tokens for chocolate kisses, which represented gelt (gold-covered chocolate coins). Those who did not win received the number of kisses to represent the number of beans they started with at the beginning of the game, which is not part of the tradition.
