AUBURN — Bo Leary pumped in a game-high 36 points and Edward Little coach Mike Adams became the schools’ winningest boys’ coach as the Red Eddies downed Brewer 71-56 in class A boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

Edward Little ran out to an 18-8 lead after the opening frame and outscored the Witches 24-14 in the second for a commanding 42-22 halftime lead. Brewer cut the lead to 10 after three quarters, but EL put Brewer away for good in the fourth. Leary also hauled down 11 rebounds to go with his 36 points.

The senior center had three assists and had a pair of steals. Brandon Giguere chipped in with 11 points for EL (12-1). Timmy Maines dished out a career-high 10 assists in the win.

Adams notched victory No. 143 with the win, passing Bill Skinner’s mark of 142 wins set between 1912-1924.

Brewer’s Ray Bessette paced the Witches (6-7) with 22 points including 10 points in the third quarter. Matt Cuskelly added 17 points in the loss.

Dirigo 65, Madison 27

MADISON — Dirigo raced out to a 33-15 halftime lead on its way to a 65-27 triumph over Madison in an MVC boys’ basketball tilt.

Dirigo jumped out to a 14-3 advantage after the opening quarter. Junior guard Josh Turbide nailed three 3-pointers, leading all scorers with 25 points for the Cougars (12-1). Cody St. Germaine followed with 17 points while Ben Holmes added a dozen in the win.

Cody Briggs led Madison (3-10) with 11 points in the loss.

Mt. Blue 45, Oxford Hills 36

FARMINGTON — Mt. Blue scored 14 points in each of the first two quarters, taking a commanding 28-16 halftime lead en route to a 45-36 victory over Oxford Hills in Class A boys’ basketball action.

Junior Cam Sennick led all scorers with 19 points for the Cougars (11-2). Eric Berry followed with 10 points in the victory. Dan Taylor paced the Vikings (4-9) with 10 points.

Livermore Falls 61, Telstar 49

LIVERMORE FALLS — Senior center Mike Armstrong dumped in a game-high 27 points and hauled down 17 rebounds to help lead Livermore Falls to a 61-49 victory over Telstar in a MVC boys’ basketball clash.

The Andies jumped out to a 17-11 lead after one quarter and kept their six-point advantage at the half. Livermore Falls increased their lead after three quarters to 45-37. Telstar made a run at the Andies in the fourth quarter and cut the lead to five points with the ball with a minute to play. A defensive stop by the Andies and some key free throws secured the victory.

Hunter Brett chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds. The senior guard also had four assists and six steals in the victory.

Dan Vaughn and Corey Howard paced the Rebels each scoring 15 points in the loss. Both teams are now 9-4.

Gray-NG 57, Fryeburg 49

GRAY — Nick Bennett ignited a 21-12 run in the third quarter as Gray-New Gloucester ran away from Fryeburg 57-49 in WMC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

Bennett finished with 15 points, including eight in that big second quarter rally. Adam Jensen led the Patriots (8-5) with 22 points, while Josh Farynaz chipped in with eight.

Fryeburg (2-12) was paced by Colby Locke with 20 points, while Ian Amoako added 13 points.

Jay 47, Mt. Abram 38

JAY — Junior forward Nate Shink poured in 17 points as Jay jettisoned Mt. Abram 47-38 in MVC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Tigers (6-6) were already leading 23-11 at the half when they erupted for a 20-5 run to start the third quarter. Jake Bessey contributed only one point on a free throw, but accumulated five steals and seven assists on offense.

Sophomore forward Ian James came off the bench to provide eight points, and junior center Tyler Hupper also contributed eight points for the Roadrunners (1-12) in the losing effort.

St. Dom’s 57, Lisbon 39

LISBON — Joe Bryant tossed in a game-high 22 points to pilot St. Dom’s to a 57-39 victory over Lisbon in MVC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Saints (4-9) took a 17-10 lead in the first quarter and maintained a steady pace throughout the next three quarters. Kurt Johnson contributed 17 points for St. Dom’s.

Freshman center Jacob Bremmer posted a team-leading nine points for the Greyhounds (0-13).

Mountain Valley 72, Carrabec 23

RUMFORD — Sophomore guard Jacob Theriault recorded 21 points as Mtn. Valley clobbered Carrabec 72-23 in MVC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

The undefeated Falcons (13-0) jumped out to a 23-5 first quarter lead. Andrew Child chipped in with 15 points.

Junior forward Spencer Shaw posted a team-leading 11 points

for the Cobras (0-13).

Rangeley 57, Buckfield 50

RANGELEY — Senior center Zeke Hall notched a double double with a game-high 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead Rangeley to a 57-50 overtime victory over Buckfield in EWC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

Kasey Robinson, who had 15 points for the Bucks (4-8), fouled out in the fourth quarter, paving the way for Buckfield to earn the win in overtime. Alex Morton tossed in five field goals and three free throws for 13 points.

Junior guard Alan Hendrick posted a team-leading 17 points for the Bucks (4-8).

Bangor 61, Lewiston 40

BANGOR — The Rams used a 12-0 run to start the fourth quarter to propel Bangor to a 61-40 victory over Lewiston in KVAC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

Senior shooting guard Zach Blodgett scored 21 points for the Rams (12-1), while Josiah Hartley chipped in with 14.

The Blue Devils (5-8) had cut a 17-point Bangor lead down to just nine in the third quarter before the Rams pulled away.

Sophomore guard Steven Patrie collected four field goals for eight points in the losing effort.
