Donations needed

PARIS — Donations are needed for the eighth annual SAD 17 Head Custodians’ Chinese Auction. It is their largest fundraiser and the funds are for scholarships the organization awards to student furthering their education.

Donations can be dropped off with any of the head custodian’s in the schools of the RSU/ SAD 17 district. If a donation needs to be picked up, call the local school head custodian.

The auction will be held Saturday, March 5, in the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School cafeteria. Doors will open at 11 a.m. and the auction will start at 1 p.m. There will be a bake sale, 50/50 raffle, grab bags, hot dogs, chips and soda during the auction.

Sunday topic

PARIS — “It’s Not Religion We are Seeking” is the title of the Rev. Don Mayberry’s sermon on Sunday, Feb. 20, at the First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., South Paris.

First Congregational Church holds Sunday services as well as age-appropriate Sunday school at 10 a.m. and everyone is welcome. The church also offers weekly Bible study Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and a Healing-Prayer-Support group on Thursdays at 3 p.m. The events are held in the chapel in the Haskell House next to the church.

Winter picnic

PARIS — In honor of Presidents’ Day, the Paris Public Library will host a winter picnic at noon Monday, Feb. 21. Families are invited to bring a blanket and a picnic lunch to eat . All ages are welcome.

During lunch, selections read by Billie Lou Damon, children’s librarian, will be “Abe Lincoln’s Hat” by Martha Brenner, “George Washington’s Teeth” by Deborah Chandra and Madeleine Corma and “Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters” by President Barack Obama.

Given award

NORWAY — The Norway-Paris Fish and Game Association awards an annual scholarship to an immediate family member of a club member. The most recent winner of the $200 scholarship is Whitney Rolfe.

Rolfe is attending Thomas Collage in Waterville. Her father, Mike, is a director and Range Committee member of the club.
