RUMFORD CENTER — Ervin Richard “Dickie” Brown, 65, of Rumford Center died peacefully at home in the arms of his family after a long courageous battle with brain cancer, Monday, Feb. 21.

Dickie was born to Daniel A. and Isabel N. Brown on Sept. 28, 1945, in Rumford. Dickie attended South Lancaster Acadamy in South Lancaster, Mass.

Dick was well-known for his compassion for family and friends. He loved stock car racing, arm wrestling, camping, motorcycles, ATV’s, snowmobiling and spending time with his family. Dick was also known for his passion for driving overloaded pulp trucks and was recognized and inducted as a champion logger in the Fryeburg Fair Saco Valley Woodsmen’s Field Day Hall of Fame in 2009.

He loved living and loving life to its fullest each and every day! We all loved and admired his quick wit and light hearted sense of humor even in his final days.
