LEWISTON — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension is sponsoring the 18th annual Maine Garden Day on Saturday, March 26, at the Lewiston High School, 156 East Ave.

The annual extravaganza features more than 35 gardening workshops from local gardening experts and a trade show with educational displays as well as plants, seeds and tools for purchase.

People may register for half-day or quarter-day workshops, which include Botanical Painting, Plants That Heal, Making Herbal Vinegars and Mustards, Introduction to Bee Keeping, Shad and Fruit Tree Pruning, The New Look of Root Cellars, Growing a Gardening Business, ABCs of House Plants, Water Gardens on a Budget, Home Orchard Basics and Compost Utilization.

First 400 registrations will be accepted. Seating is limited in some workshops so it will be first-come, first-served. To register for Maine Garden Day, people must request a brochure from the University of Maine Cooperative Extension by calling 1-800-287-1482 or 743-6329 or find the brochure online at http://www.extension.umaine.edu/mainegardenday/. The cost is $50 and includes breakfast, lunch and workshops.
