Gov. Paul LePage certainly has got the media hot on his trail. The man speaks his mind, no doubt keeping his press secretaries very busy.

Not everyone is going to like what they hear. He promised to work hard to turn Maine around. Who out there doesn’t realize that change isn’t comfortable or easy or non-controversial?

What I find most unfortunate is that his opposition, along with the media, has focused on all the perceived “bloopers” since his election. What about the hardworking folks who voted for him — the small business owners, the farmers, the mill workers, etc.? What about the people of Waterville, where he was mayor and turned the town around, bringing it out of debt and into a prosperous, thriving community?

I don’t get to hear positive LePage stories from those folks. That kind of good news doesn’t sell papers and advertising. So it seems the public is only hearing from those who have the money and access to the media, mostly from Portland and southern Maine, and who didn’t vote for LePage.

I’d like to hear more about what LePage has done and is doing to help the regular folks and the state, instead of the daily flogging for his being a real person who speaks his real mind and who might be able to bring real change to the overburdened bureaucracy of this state.

If only the media would just give him a chance.
