It must be admitted that the mainstream media of Maine are trying mightily to conceal their dislike of Gov. Paul LePage and their steely determination to play their part in ensuring that he be a one-and-out governor, at the same time concealing their disdain for those people who support him.

It’s not working.

Examples are endless. Here are two of my personal favorites:

— First was what seemed to be a statewide hissy fit, led by the lovely and talented Bill Nemitz over the fact that there were no poets invited to the inauguration.

— Now comes the latest (so far; after all it’s only been three months) and the greatest — a front-page article in the Sun Journal on April 4 features a four-column picture accompanying the inspiring story of a recent Edward Little High School graduate who is hoping to become “professional wrestling’s new star.” Right next to that (just two columns) is a story about how many people LePage has managed to offend in only three months — “more than any Maine governor in recent memory.”

That piece is supported (of course) by quotes from a political science professor at the University of Maine and a spokesman for Critical Insights market research firm in Portland, whatever that might mean.

(Hint —LePage grew up on the streets. He is blunt by nature, and he’s Franco-American. Anyone can figure that out.)
