Grange Month

AUBURN — Danville Junction Grange 65 will hold their annual Open Meeting in conjunction with Grange Month on Thursday, April 14. Dessert will be served at 6 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 7. State Master James Owens will be present to award membership certificates to some longtime members. An appreciation certificate will be presented to one of our members.

Entertainer Phil House will play several selections. In addition, there will be skits and humorous readings.

The public is cordially invited to attend in order to see the hall and to learn what grange is all about.

VFW fundraiser

AUBURN — VFW Post #1603 has teamed up with a New England company to give the public an opportunity to sell old, unwanted jewelry in a safe environment. The unique fundraising opportunity that will benefit the Chaplains Fund of the post will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on two Saturdays, April 16 and 23, and from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, at the VFW Hall, 588 Minot Ave.

Lenten open house

DURHAM — First Congregational Church UCC will hold a special open house event for Easter, “It’s More Than Just Jelly Beans!” on Sunday, April 17, 733 Royalsborough Road.

Celebrate the true meaning of Easter at the special Lenten “History of Christianity” worship service at 10 a.m., with a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will be children’s games and an adult museum walk. Youths will receive “The Colors of Christianity” jelly beans and eggs to decorate. Adults can tour the “Easter through Cultures and Ages” stations in the fellowship hall.

Living Holy Week

AUBURN — St. Dominic Academy will present Living Holy Week from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, at St. Dominic Academy, Auburn Campus Commons. Fr. Bob Vaillancourt will discuss what the shroud reveals about the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Recommended for a mature audience (7th grade and up).

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on April 7 were as follows.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on April 11 were as follows.

1st: Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman, 2nd: Sue Kaluzynski and Anna Vitiello, 3rd: Dick Allen and Pete Cummings.
