BETHEL — The Down Home Maine series sponsored by the Western Mountains Senior College will feature photographer Dirk MacKnight on April 28 at Gould Academy’s McLaughlin Auditorium.

The program is titled Down Home Maine: China through the Lens of Dirk MacKnight and will run from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

MacKnight has been creating images for over 35 years. His commercial photographs have appeared in newspapers, magazines, and textbooks around the world, and his fine art photographs are currently exhibited in private collections throughout the U.S., as well as in local art galleries.

MacKnight is currently at Gould Academy, where he works in the communications department and teaches photography. Just back from his second trip to China, he will share his experiences through his images, focusing on the contrasts between the ancient cultural heritage and the startling growth of China today.

Western Maine Senior College offers multi-session courses, workshops, outdoor activities, special events and social gatherings to members ages 50 and older. The Down Home Maine series features unique and adventurous people from the community. Programs are open to the public free of charge; donations are accepted to offset Senior College expenses. Light refreshments are available.
