Without disturbing the tenant or the interior arrangement of his home, the house owned by W. E. Merrow and occupied by John Farwell is being moved from Union Street up Oak to Holland Street. It was decided that it would not be necessary for Mr. Farwell to move out and, therefore, he together with all of his household goods is being slowly moved from Union to Holland Street. In the meantime, he is attending to all his household duties, and last night, although the house occupied the middle of Oak Street, he retired at the usual hour and said he anticipated a good night’s rest.

50 years ago, 1961

Richard C. Ryder, Edward Little High School driver training instructor, has been named chairman of the Lewiston Junior Chamber of Commerce Road-E-O to be held in Lewiston next month.

Ryder’s appointment was announced last night by Bernard Hopkins, president of the Lewiston Junior Chamber.

The local competition will be open to teen-age drivers 19 years old and younger who have a driver’s license.

FARMINGTON — Pond owners who desire to stock their ponds with either brook trout or rainbows this spring need to be aware of the new Fish Stocking Law, say officials of the Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District.

The new law requires a permit from the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
