LEWISTON — Emilien E. Morin Jr., 71, a resident of Beckett Street, Auburn, died unexpectedly Friday night at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston, the son of Emilien and Lena (Thibault) Morin Sr. He attended St. Louis Elementary School and graduated from St. Dominic’s High School in 1959. He then went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard during the Berlin crisis.

Both he and his late father established their family business, E. Morin and Sons, in 1952. He later operated the same business with his own sons under the name Morin Excavating, where he still worked until his passing. He had an outstanding work ethic, which he passed down to his children. Most Sundays you would find him at “The Shop,” washing his vehicles, which he took great pride in.

He married the former Diane Jean on Oct. 24, 1964. They had a great love for one another, which was exemplified in the rearing of their four children. Emilien, though a humble man, would never argue that his greatest accomplishment in life was the family he loved so dearly.

He was an active member of St. Louis Church and had previously served as Eucharistic minister. He was a member of William J. Rogers American Legion Post 153 in New Auburn. He was also an honorary member of the Auburn Sno Groomers Snowmobile Club.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Diane Jean Morin, of Auburn; a daughter, Celeste and her husband, Kevin Chapman, of Auburn; three sons, Andre Morin and his daughters, Kelsey and Madison, of Auburn, John and his wife Stacy (Woodward) and their sons, Ben and Jack, of Auburn, and Mark and his girlfriend, Brooke Grygiel, of Poland; surviving in-laws, Jacqueline and John Viollette of Lewiston, Laurier and Anita Jean of Harpswell, and Gilbert Jean of St. George, Utah, and Jill Jean of Red Beach; surviving godchildren are Philip Kitchen, Anne Marie Clark, Eric Jean and Ben Morin.
