LEWISTON — Gerald J. Bussiere, 90, of 22 Pettengill St., Lewiston, died at home on Saturday, May 7, following a brief illness.

Born in Lewiston on April 7, 1921, he was the son of Alfred and Alfreda Dulac Bussiere. Educated in local schools, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. On June 19, 1948, he married his loving wife, the former Carmen Chaput of Lewiston.

He was employed for many years as a pipe fitter with Local 716, retiring in 1983. A member of Saints Peter and Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish, he also belonged to the American Legion Post No. 22. His greatest enjoyment in life came from time spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife of Lewiston; a son, Denis, of Auburn; two daughters, Irene and husband, Victor Gaudreau, of Lewiston, and Joline Albert of Portland; a brother, Bertrand and wife, Laurette, of St. Johnsbury, Vt.; a sister, Lauretta Rainville of Lewiston; and three grandchildren, Austin Albert and wife, Leigh, Gena Bosshart and husband, Edward, and Ashley Albert.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Rosario, Ovila and Robert; and two sisters, Lucienne Mitchell and Catherine Lupardo.
