LEWISTON — Capt. Laurier “Larry” Morin has retired from the Lewiston Fire Department following 40 years of service.

His career started in October 1971 as a private in the LFD. In 1973, along with nine other members of the department, he graduated with a fire science degree from the former SMVTI, which was the beginning of a program that is still active in today’s training format.

Morin was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 1988, and then to captain in 1993. He is very proud of his affiliation with the firefighter’s union, Local 785, which has strived to make firefighters safer through better training, gear and safety equipment.

A graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School, Morin is a member of the Knights of Columbus Counsel 106 as a 3rd and 4th degree knight.

Morin and his wife Connie are lifelong residents of Lewiston, along with their daughters, Clair, Linda and Cindy.
