AUBURN — Representatives from the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray will be appearing Wednesday, June 22, at Festival Plaza, on Main Street in downtown Auburn. The wildlife park will present Lawrence the Bald Eagle between 5:45 and 6:30 p.m., prior to the weekly performance by the Auburn Community Concert Band. Two additional guests, Moxie Moose and Kennebago Bear, will also be on hand to meet and greet everyone arriving for the concert.

Lawrence is a six year old bald eagle that has lived at the Wildlife Park since he was found injured as an eaglet. Falling from a tree during a windstorm, his wing was so badly broken it had to be amputated. Because of his injury, he is unable to fly and resides at the Wildlife Park and is used to educate the public on bald eagles.

Appearing with Lawrence will be Pam Richardson, one of the eagle’s handlers. She will share interesting facts about this species and offer a close-up view of him. Other members of the park staff will be present to answer questions and share information about park projects, events and admission deals available to all residents of Lewiston and Auburn through their local libraries.

The musical theme for the evening’s performance by the Auburn Community Concert Band is “Around the World in 80 Minutes.” This free program is the second in a series of 11 weekly Wednesday evening performances taking place at Festival Plaza. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place inside the ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn at Great Falls Plaza.
