The West Auburn School Historical Society held their annual meeting on April 28 with a potluck supper, followed by Board of Directors meeting. Newly elected officers for the coming year are, seated from left, Roland Lachance, treasurer, and Stephen Marsden, president. Standing, Mary Buker, secretary, and Richard Knight, vice-president. The society was started in 1992. The school holds classes for schools looking for field trips back in time to one-room schools in the 1850s period. Students come dressed as they would in the 1800s, bringing a bag or pail with lunch. Teacher Donna Berry brings to life what school was like in the early days. If interested, Donna can be reached at 346-3106. The annual fundraiser, a yard and bake sale, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 6. The school will be open for visitors at that time.
