CARTHAGE — A local man is accused of driving drunk and leaving the scene of an accident on June 24.

Maine State Police Trooper Aaron Turcotte said he caught up with Anthony Marion as he was trying to back out of a driveway on Route 142 in Carthage. Marion refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test, he said.

Marion, 27, had pulled into a driveway in Carthage and a resident there tried to talk him out of driving and he refused and left, Turcotte said.

Marion who is on probation, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, and leaving the scene of a property damage crash, Turcotte said. He was also charged with assault  and violating probation.

Marion has two prior OUI convictions and now faces a felony OUI charge, he said.

Marion was prohibited from driving with any alcohol in his system due to being on probation and his prior convictions, Turcotte said.
