Megan Dyer of Oxford won a bronze medal in the 50-meter freestyle swim at the Special Olympics world games in Athens, Greece.

Dyer also finished fourth in the 25-meter backstroke and fifth with the 4×50 relay team.

Two other Maine athletes brought home gold medals.

Cailynn Goss, a swimmer from Hampden, won the 50 butterfly and the 4×50 medley relay. She was fourth in the 100 freestyle.

Mathew Poland, a track and field athlete from Round Pond, was victorious with the 4×400 relay squad. Individually, Poland won a silver medal in the 1,500 meters and was fourth in the 3,000.

Team USA bowling coach Duane Hall also hails from Maine.
