BRUNSWICK, Maine (AP) — Divers have recovered the body of a 39-year-old Bath man who fell into Maine’s Androscoggin River while fishing.

Officials say William Clark fell into the river about 3 p.m. Sunday while fishing with a woman on a sandbar off Brunswick.

Brunswick Deputy Police Chief Marc Hagan said the woman tried to rescue the man, but she got caught up in a current and had to be rescued by a nearby kayaker.

Hagan said divers with the Maine State Police dive team found the body at about 6:55 p.m.
