DIXFIELD — Organizer Norine Clarke described Dixfield’s Market Day Festival as “a big Dixfield block party with food, fleas and fun.”

She, Ralph Clarke and Laurie Taylor met Wednesday night to go over plans for the Aug. 21 event. It will be held downtown from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.

Attractions include a giant flea market, a flower show, chicken/hamburger barbecue, raffle, guided tour of the Dixfield Historical Society, music by Sammie Angel, scores of vendors and a 10K road race by the River Valley Chamber of Commerce.

“There are still good vendor spaces available for Market Day,” Norine Clarke  advised. Vendors may purchase a spot  for $15, including advertising their product. For reservations phone Clarke at 562-8816.

Some of the money generated at the Market Day Festival will go to help local charities.

Market Day began in the 1950s and continued yearly except of two years in the 1970s when Route 2 was reconstructed, Norine Clarke said.
