FARMINGTON — Painter Lucia Swallow and photographer Cindy Langewisch, both with East European roots, will be SugarWood Gallery’s Artists of the Month for August.
An open house reception will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at 248 Broadway. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.
The Friday reception will include an “Art Talk” by Langewisch from 6 to 6:30. She will have a large and a medium format camera with her and talk about her process, her beginnings and involvements to date and offer some insights into her passions.
Lucia Wasileski Swallow resides in Farmington. She said, “Capturing color and creating design have been common threads throughout my life as a painter, gardener and mother. My passion for art is inspired, in part, by painting on location and experiencing and becoming intimate with the natural beauty that surrounds me.”

Cindy Rahagen Langewisch is a New England native and has been a Maine resident for 30 years, currently residing in East Livermore. She utilizes color slides, color negatives and black and white negative films; she utilizes 35mm, medium and large formats. She is the founding member of the Maine Traditional Film Photographers based in Hallowell (www.metfp.com).
