POLAND SPRING — The Poland Spring Preservation Society will welcome musician Carolyn Currie on Monday, Aug. 8,  as a part of its summer concert series.

Currie’s music has been described as haunting and luminous, with poetic lyrics that intrigue the discerning listener. Her fourth CD, “Waves of Silence,” the first to be released by Nashville’s High Horse Records, features songs ranging from heartwarming and joyful, to haunting and contemplative.

“Carolyn Currie sings as if she is the lead vocalist of a heavenly choir — soft and sweet, yet haunting and magical,” wrote Roberta Schwartz of Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange. “Her finger-picking on six and 12-string guitar frames the music and elevates it far beyond the ordinary singer-songwriter fare. Hers is music that not only soothes the senses, but is not afraid to move you and make you think.”

The concert will begin at 7 p.m.  at All Souls Chapel. Tickets are $7.50 at the door and include refreshments. For more information, call 998-4142 or visit www.polandspringps.org.
