AUBURN — Center for Cultural Interchange, in cooperation with The Experiment France, has selected Auburn resident Camden Martin as the winner of its first high school study abroad France scholarship. Camden will be studying for three months in the community of Nimes, France. He will be attending the local high school, living with a host family and fully immersing himself in the French language and culture.
Camden was chosen among the numerous scholarship applicants because of his strong academic record, wonderful references and enthusiasm for all things French. He seizes every opportunity to learn French, through movies, books, newspapers and the Internet. He even converted his school computer, iPod, smart phone and video games to French so that he could increase both reading and comprehension skills.
Camden seeks out other French speakers, which is no small feat in Maine, so that he can improve his speaking and listening skills.
Established in 1985, the Center for Cultural Interchange is a nonprofit international educational exchange organization based in Chicago. Its mission is to promote cultural understanding, academic development, environmental consciousness and world peace.
