FARMINGTON — The Planning Board approved the application for a six-unit condominium project near the downtown area Wednesday night.
William Marceau of Riverview Condominiums proposes to create four, two-bedroom units and two, one-bedroom units behind Foothills Management and Development on Main Street.
“This is the first step,” the applicant said after the decision.
Board member Tom Eastler said it is one of the most difficult applications but also one of the most educational he has dealt with.
Earlier this week, abutter Christie James questioned whether her lot and Marceau’s lot situated between Main and Front streets were in the Village Business Historic District on Front Street.
“The Village Business Historic District is a subclassification under the Village Business District, town attorney Frank Undercuffler wrote to the board. “According to the map incorporated into the zoning ordinances, Riverview’s lot is not within the Village Business District” and therefore cannot fall under the Village Business Historical District.
The board unanimously agreed the lot is in the Village Residential District.
