BOULDER, Colo. — The wedding of Ariel Renee Simpson-Johnson and Christopher M. Lavery was held at 3:30 p.m. on July 30 at the Sunrise Amphitheater in Boulder, Colo. Francis Charteris officiated at the ceremony.

Mrs. Lavery is the daughter of Thomas Johnson and Victoria Simpson of Louiscille, Colo. Mr. Lavery is the son of Michael Lavery of Catskils, N.Y., and Mary Boos of Farmington, N.Y.

The bride carried a bouquet of Yucca seed pods, Calla lilies and Sahara roses.

Katherine Elizabeth Simpson-Johnson was maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Caroline Valites, Karla Stingerstein and Annie Strader. The flower girl was Eva Laurelin Martonis, daughter of a groomsman.

Serving as best man was Matthew Creel Weedman, best friend of the bridegroom. Ushers were Stephen Martonis, Barry Whittaker and Andrew Simpson-Johnson. Alden Martonis, son of a groomsman, was ring bearer.

A reception followed at the Hotel Boulderado, after which the couple traveled to Maine. They are residing in Farmington.

The bride attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and received her bachelor’s degree in studio arts. She is currently seeking her master’s degree in studio arts at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She is currently teaching for UMass and working the campus museum as well as exhibiting her artwork nationally and regionally.

The bridegroom is currently working for the University of Maine at Farmington, where he is assistant professor of art, teaching a variety of courses such as sculpture, installation, sound art and robotics. He attended SUNY Fredonia, receiving a bachelor’s degree in photography/studio arts and received his master’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder for studio art sculpture. He also exhibits his work nationally and internationally, including a large public art project titled “Cloudscape” for the Denver International Airport in Colorado.
