The new brick block on Lincoln street, which has been erected for F. G. Davis and Company, wholesale grocers, is practically completed, but the firm does not expect to have everything in operation until the first of next month. The block is one of the largest in the state and a fine addition to the buildings of this city.
50 years ago, 1961
Lewiston police commissioners will take a tour of the former Raytheon Training Center at Main and Sabattus streets Tuesday night to see whether or not it would be suitable as a site for a new police station.
The building formerly was known as the Lewiston Buick building and has, for years, been thought of as a good spot for a police station.
25 years ago, 1986
Persons who vandalized the Lisbon Drive-In Theater on Lisbon Road during the weekend exposed themselves to asbestos, which is known to cause cancer and other health problems, Lewiston police said Sunday.
Bertrand Lacombe of Coastal Energy told Lewiston police Saturday that the persons should seek medical attention as soon as possible. The persons came in contact with the asbestos, which Coastal Energy was removing from the drive-in screen.
