Baseball sign-ups

DIXFIELD — Legion baseball sign-ups will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Legion Hall Post 100, 8 River Lane.

All baseball players ages 14-19 from Dixfield, Peru and Mountain Valley and their parents are invited.

To continue the summer Legion baseball program in the River Valley Area, at least 12 eligible players must sign up, commit to the June 18-July 25 schedule and pay a $30 fee by Nov. 13. Post 100 will endeavor to field a team for the 2012 season if and only if the interest to have a team can be documented to the state.

Quilters meet

RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street.

Quilts for veterans will be accepted as well as articles made for the Dempsey Cancer Center. Handmade Christmas tree ornaments for the Festival of Trees scheduled for Dec. 10 at the Rumford Municipal Building will be collected.

A reminder that if school is cancelled in RSU 10 on a day RAQ is scheduled, RAQ is also cancelled. All area quilters are invited. For more information call 562-7050.

Eliminate stigma

RUMFORD — Tri-County Mental Health Services will host a dinner and discussion on “MaineRaising! Community Inclusion in Maine” at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 49 Congress St.

Discussion will be about assets and resources in the community that promote community inclusion and eliminate stigma.

The program is presented by the Office of Adult Mental Health Services, the Consumer Council System of Maine and facilitated by various members of the community.

Christmas fair

DIXFIELD — The Dixfield Congregational Church will present its annual Christmas Fair at the church on the hill (in the annex) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. During the morning hours, coffee and muffins will be available and a lunch service will start at 11.

The fair will feature homemade items, a children’s table, food items, fresh holiday greens, a men’s table, raffles, a silent auction and lots of unique gift choices. There will be a cookie walk for the kids and a rummage sale table for the serious bargain hunter. Admission is free and all are welcomed.

Hoedown dance

RUMFORD — A hunter’s hoedown dance will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 19, at the American Legion, Congress Street. Music will be provided by Fair Enough.

There will also be a Chinese auction and raffles.

The cost is $10 per person. Tickets are available in advance at Davis Florist or by calling Cindi Milligan at 364-8739 or 357-2701 or Allison Freeman at 357-7084.

Proceeds benefit the River Valley Relay for Life team Cancer Crusaders.

Holy Savior fair

RUMFORD — Holy Savior School Christmas fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in Holy Savior Church basement.

There will be Christmas wreaths, handmade crafts, homemade baked goods, candy and fudge, Chinese auction, several raffles, door prize, kids corner, hot turkey lunch and more. For more information call 364-2528.

2001 reunion

RUMFORD — Mountain Valley Class of 2001 10-year reunion will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Black Mountain of Maine. Cost is $25 a person. RSVP no later than Nov. 19.
