AUBURN — Central Maine Community College will host an informational program from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, designed for students interested in attending the college in the spring semester. The informal open house will include information on admissions, financial aid and academic programs. All students applying will have the $20 application fee waived, and some will be able to register for courses that evening. Assistance will be provided in completing the admissions application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
The open house welcomes potential students of all ages, including the “nontraditional” student population. Nontraditional students are generally older students attending college for the first time or returning to college after an extended absence.
“This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to extend their education to visit the college in a relaxed atmosphere,” said Director of Admissions Marc Gosselin. “We welcome all potential students to come see the campus and learn about the opportunities we provide.”
Veterans interested in returning to school are also encouraged to attend. CMCC was recently awarded the designation of “military friendly school” by G.I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. The 2012 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.
Anyone interested in becoming a student is invited to attend. While the program will begin at 4 p.m., all are welcome anytime between 4 and 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Call the admissions office at 755-5273 for more information.
