Coach: Chris Bean (first year)

Last year’s record: Class B champions, Western B champions, second in Mid-State League

Returning letter winners: Senior — Joe Provencher (138) ; Juniors — Nicole Burgess (106), Jon Petrie (220), Anthony Boucher (182), Austin Varnum (220), Sophomores — Jake Thornton (120), Zach Cross (170).

Key losses: Ryan Burgess (112), Cody Magoon (125), Josh Thornton (145), Taylor Carey (171), Josh Allen (189), Christian Durland (215), Ryan Glover (285).

Promising newcomers: Senior — Kyle Golden (195); Sophomore — Mike Theriault (160); Freshmen — Dakota Jacques (113), Nate Boucher (125), Brandon Gill (132), Ian Austin (145).

Outlook:  An assistant for the last decade, Bean inherits a defending state champion in rebuilding mode. Some eligible talent did not come out for preseason, so as of press time the Falcons have lost nine starters, including five state champions and two others who placed. Burgess and Provencher were fourth at states last year. The freshman class is strong and should contribute immediately, and there are a number of first-time wrestlers who could add depth.

Coach’s comment: “We’ve got a good young group coming up. We’re spread out pretty well. We’ve got some hard workers.”
