WELLS — Jake Littlefield scored 18 points and Logan Nichols chipped in with 15 points to send Poland to a 64-53 triumph over Wells in a WMC boys’ basketball game Tuesday.
The Knights (2-0) opened 28-22 lead by halftime. Wells (0-2) never got any closer than six points the rest of the way.
Ricky Bryant added 11 points for Poland. Dylan Stevens led the Warriors with 15 points and Zach Deshaies scored 12.
Buckfield 40, Richmond 40
RICHMOND — Austin Dooley sank a pair of free throws with eight seconds remaining to lift Buckfield to a 42-40 victory over Richmond in a Class D boys’ basketball game Tuesday.
The Bobcats (0-2) stormed back from a 14-point deficit in the final quarter to tie the game ay 40-40 with 30 seconds to play. Buckfield held onto the ball until Dooley eas fouled.
Richmond’s 3-point bid at the buzzer hit the rim and bounced away.
Dooley led Buckfield (2-0) with 18 points and Alan Hedrick added eight points. Kabe Strout scored 12 points to pace Richmond. Sean Bernier and Ben Carver added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Oxford Hills 53, Mt. Ararat 50
SOUTH PARIS — Senior guard Brian Lynch sank four free throws in the final minutes to ice an Oxford Hills 53-50 win over Mt. Ararat in KVAC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
The Vikings (1-1) led by 12 in the first half, but coughed up the lead in the final frame.
Brian Lynch helped regain the lead and secure the victory for the Vikings by going 12-of-14 in the fourth quarter.
Senior center Mason Griffin scored a team-high 13 points for the Eagles (0-2). Josh Griffin provided four field goals, including two from 3-point range in the losing effort.
Spruce Mountain 76, Lisbon 46
LISBON — Jake Bessey put up 23 points and James Barker had 11 as Spruce Mountain raced past Lisbon with a 76-46 victory in a boys’ basketball game Tuesday night.
The Phoenix (2-0) had no problem building a 39-18 halftime lead and piled up another 37 points in the second half.
For Lisbon (0-2) Jacob Bremmer scored 10 points and Derrick Lycetted added another nine.
Hall-Dale 54, St. Dom’s 52
AUBURN — Hall-Dale capped a hard-fought contest with a 19-14 fourth-quarter run, just enough to squeak by St. Dom’s 54-52 in a KVAC boys’ basketball tilt Tuesday.
Mike Woods was key in the victory, stealing an in-bound pass late in the contest to give Hall-Dale the final basket. Woods finished with 13 points, while Austin Bechard chipped in with eight.
The Saints (0-2) were paced by Joe Bryant with a solid 13-point effort, while Tom Applegate tallied 12.
Lewiston 56, Erskine 49
SOUTH CHINA — Josh Thomas sparked a 21-13 run in the third frame that allowed Lewiston to post a 56-49 victory over Erskine in early-season boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
Thomas finished with 21 points to lead the Blue Devils (2-0), including eight in that key third frame. Donne Agossou chipped in with 15 points in an effective two-man assault.
The Eagles (1-1) were paced by Devon Duncan with 14 points, while Tyler Belanger chipped in with 13.
Morse 68, Oak Hill 29
BATH — Forwards Matt Munster and Ted Cole tossed an impressive 16 points each as Morse downed Oak Hill 68-29 in boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
The Shipbuilders (1-0) left the Raiders (0-2) at the shore with an 18-0 first quarter run. Kevin McKellar contributed 11 points for Morse.
The Raiders played with much passion, picking up the tempo after the first frame. Junior guard Sam Morin tossed 10 points in the losing effort.
Leavitt 66, Winslow 55
TURNER — Senior forward Jordan Hersom notched a double-double with 17 points and 24 rebounds to lift Leavitt to a 66-55 victory over Winslow in KVAC boys’ basketbll action Tuesday.
Andrew Middleton and Hersom accounted for all 14 points in the first quarter, and the Hornets (2-0) took a 35-20 lead into the midpoint.
Tyler Walton posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists.
Senior guard Justin Murray tossed a game-high 18 pints for the Black Raiders (1-1). Trevor Lovely supported Winslow with eight points in the losing effort.
