FARMINGTON — The Emery Community Arts Center on the University of Maine at Farmington campus will present two visual and performing arts events to kick off the new year.

The ECAC Flex Space will feature “Painters, Players & Poets,” a collaboration celebrating the talents of 48 Maine painters, players/composers, poets and chair makers. An opening reception will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3.

The exhibit will run through Feb. 3. Donations will be accepted at the door.

The Sandy River Players will present a one-act play paired with a one-act opera, directed by Dale Hill and Jane Parker, in the ECAC Performance Space, opening Jan. 12.

A.A. Milne’s “The Man in the Bowler Hat” and “The Little Sweep,” by composer Benjamin Britten, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 12-14 and 20-21; and at 2 p.m. on Jan. 22.

Tickets are $14, $12 for seniors and children. Doors open 30 minutes before all performances.
