Square dance

WILTON — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club of South Paris has announced that its January dance will be co-sponsored with Friendship Squares of Wilton and will be held at Cushing School in Wilton from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8. The theme of the dance is a Hawaiian luau.

Walt Bull will be calling mainstream and select plus for the square dancing and Carol Stewart will cue the round dancing. Admission is $6 per person but non-dancers are welcome to come and watch at no charge. There will be refreshments, door prizes and pot of gold drawing.

World’s Fair

WATERFORD — The Waterford World’s Fair Association will hold a meeting for all directors and members at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at the Waterford Town Office. At this meeting some of the department heads will be appointed so anyone interested in being appointed should attend or may call president Dana Hemingway at 595-2430.

The last weekend in the month several directors and members will attend the annual State of Maine Agriculture meeting in Portland to meet with other fair individuals and state officials to learn what new rules and regulation will be taking place for the coming year.

Community supper

WATERFORD — A community supper will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Wilkins Community House. Suppers are held on the third Thursday of each month through May.

The Community House is in Waterford Flat on Plummer Hill Road behind the village green next door to the church.

Folks from the community and surrounding towns are invited to bring a favorite dish to share. Rolls, bread and beverages will be provided. For information, call 583-6677.

HARRISON — The next Waterford World’s Fair Association public supper will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, at the United Parish Congregational Church, 77 Main St. The menu will be pork roast with apple and cranberry stuffing, potato, vegetable, rolls, drink and homemade pie. Serving will start at 5:30 p.m. The charge is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under 6 years of age.

Winter Fun Day

WATERFORD — The Waterford World’s Fair Association will have a Winter Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at the High View Farm on Leander Harmon Road, if Mother Nature supplies snow.

Attendees can bring their own sleds to slide down the field or go for a horse-drawn sleigh ride in the woods. The barn of Bill and Darcy Winslow will offer lots of animals to pet and watch. Light refreshments will be available for sale.
