LEWISTON — A funeral Mass honoring the life of Laurier G. Mailhot was celebrated on Wednesday at Holy Cross Church following prayers at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Vaillancourt celebrated the Mass and recited committal prayers at St. Peter’s Cemetery. At the beginning of Mass, Laurier’s daughter, Linda Henault, and granddaughters, Sarah and Carla Henault, draped his casket with the burial pall that commemorates his Baptism into new life. During the Mass, the first reading was read by Laurier’s granddaughter, Carla Henault and the prayer of the faithful was read by Laurier’s niece, Savanah Albert. The offertory was brought to the altar by Laurier’s daughter, Linda Henault and his son-in-law, Gerard Henault. Military honors from the U.S. Army played “taps” and presented our country’s flag to Laurier’s wife, Marie Mailhot. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Pallbearers were Claire and Michael Bourgoin, Gerald Henault and Richard, Lionel and Donald Mailhot. A reception of fellowship was held at Claire and Louis Bourgoin’s home in Lewiston following the services at the cemetery.
