FARMINGTON — A local driver involved in an accident Monday night was charged by Farmington and Wilton police.
Christian Trefethen, 28, went to the Farmington Police station Tuesday to talk with an officer. He was arrested on a probation violation.
Wilton police charged Trefethen with theft by unauthorized taking after Farmington arrested him, Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said Wednesday.
When Farmington police arrived at a single-car crash at about 7 p.m. Monday on Industry Road, they found the driver had left the scene.
The 2000 Kia Sophia received substantial damage after it apparently struck several trees near the Farmington-Industry town line.
Wilton Police received a report that the vehicle was stolen from Weld Road after the crash. The owner, who had fallen asleep, questioned whether an acquaintance had taken the vehicle, Wilcox said.
