LEWISTON — Richard W. Hobart, 85, of Litchfield and a former resident of Route 106, Leeds, died at Montello Manor nursing home on Jan. 18.

He was born in Greene, May 26, 1926, the son of Fred and Sarah Lois Jillson Hobart. He attended elementary school in Greene, went on to Lewiston High school and later received his GED from Winthrop High School.

Richard was married on Nov. 7, 1947, to Milicent Hartford; she passed away in 1988. On Nov. 18, 1988, in Litchfield, Richard and Verna Nuzzo were married. Richard worked as the Road Commissioner for the town of Leeds for 15 years; he worked for Blue Rock in Leeds, owned his own paving business and retired from BIW after working there 6 years.

He enjoyed old cars and dancing and the family didn’t know which came first because Richard loved them both; he loved his family dearly, he also enjoyed music, especially country and western and swing, and he also loved to waltz. Richard was a member of Monmouth Lodge 110 AF and AM.

He is survived by his wife, Verna Hobart of Litchfield; his daughter, Audrey Savoie of Leeds; three sons, Kenneth Nuzzo and his wife, Eileen, of Winthrop, Keith Nuzzo and his wife, Andrea, of Litchfield and Karl Nuzzo and his wife, Maureen, of Litchfield; his grandchildren, Jason, Morgan, Tony and Hillarie Nuzzo; a brother, Berkley Hobart of Lewiston; a niece, Jane Wheeler and her husband, Alan; and his cat, Angel.

He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Milicent Hobart; his daughter, Susan Hobart in 1977; and his son-in-law, Don Savoie.
