AUBURN — SHAREcenter has moved to a new location at 15 Andrew Drive.
SHAREcenter is a nonprofit educational supply center providing materials to area schools and community agencies. Diane Doe, director, is assisted each week by program seniors and volunteers. Teachers and staff shop free once their school or nonprofit pays a nominal membership. Area businesses donate most of the items.
Doe said Fontaine Family – The Real Estate Leader is a “major sponsor in kind” for the continued use of their moving van. SHAREcenter has been using the moving truck for more than seven years. “I have seen the mileage on the truck go from 20,000 miles to over 70,000 miles during that time,” said Doe.
As part of its community outreach, SHAREcenter participates in many festivals and events. The center is open in its new location at 15 Andrew Drive.
The new spot offers more items than the old one, thanks to the use of a warehouse and offsite storage space for managing inventory for the Auburn and Topsham centers.
“We have new ideas about how to expand our ability to get necessary materials out to area girls and boys. It only takes a little money for these ideas to go a long way,” said a board member.
Financial contributions to support the program may be mailed to the center at PO Box 800, Auburn, ME 04212-0800. A donation of $25 results in getting more than $250 in supplies out to the region.
