BOSTON, Mass. — Galen Francis Brackley, 54, died Jan. 17 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he had been a patient for the last week following a long illness.

He was born May 2, 1957, in Farmington, the son of Clinton and Arlene Chadbourne Brackley. He was educated in the schools of Strong and Kearsarge Regional High School in New Hampshire, graduating in the Class of 1975, He married Penelope Blaisdell on Nov. 24, 2006, in North Monmouth.

He was employed in his earlier years at Digital Corp. in New Hampshire and Forster Mfg. Co in Strong and East Wilton. He owned his own lumbering business for a time. He later worked in maintenance for the U.S. Customs Service in Coburn Gore and recently for TD Banknorth in Lewiston as a mailroom clerk. Galen was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting in his spare time. He loved to gourmet cook, watch NASCAR and football and travel with his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Penelope Blaisdell Brackley of North Monmouth; his sons, Clifton Brackley of Farmington and Galen Brackley II and wife, Donna, of Farmington; his stepson, Aaron Weed and wife, Caitlyn, of New Hampshire; his stepdaughter, Melanie Briggs and husband, Todd, of Virginia; his brother, Clinton Brackley and wife, Linda, of Freeman; sisters, Vivian Kennedy and husband, Roger, of Farmington, and Lulu Cook of Avon and Virginia; six grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
