AUBURN — Marie P. Gagnon, 91, a resident of Elm Street, Jay, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, Jan. 22, at Hospice House of Androscoggin.

She was born April 27, 1920, in Jay, the daughter of Ubaldo F. and Florida Simoneau Hamel. She was a 1938 graduate of Jay High School. On April 23, 1939, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, she married Philip Gagnon. He passed away June 3, 1969.

Marie worked at the Otis Mill, Norwalk Shoe, Ben’s Clothing and IP Woodlands, and retired in 1982 from the cleaning department at the Androscoggin Mill. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay; member of Ladies of St. Ann, St. John the Baptist and Jay-Livermore Falls Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Anne Gagnon of Jay; her son, Francis Gagnon and his wife, Susan, of Jay; her sister, Antoinette Peary of Livermore Falls; grandchildren, Barbara Skidgell and her husband, Darrell, Monique DiPompo and her husband, Fred, John Gagnon and his wife, Bobbie, Christine Knudsen and husband, Neils, Philip Gagnon, Rachel Coleman and husband, Tennie, and Joseph Gagnon; nine great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Jane Blair of Rockport.

She was predeceased by her son, Paul Gagnon; her grandson, Robert Gagnon; two brothers, Leo and Armand Hamel; and her sister, Violette Ouellette.
