A tractor-trailer jackknifed on the Maine Turnpike on Tuesday when its driver swerved to avoid another big rig, State Police Trooper Charles Granger said. Driver Paul Regan, 55, of New Hampshire told police he crossed three lanes of traffic to avoid a collision and ended up against a concrete barrier. The crash took place in Kittery on the southbound side at about 6 a.m. Traffic was backed up for almost 3 miles at one point. Regan was treated and released for minor injuries at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
