AUBURN — An evening of worship in song with Dianne Hirsch and special guest Krystal Bibeau will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at Court Street Baptist Church, 129 Court St. A love offering will be taken.

History Barn

NEW GLOUCESTER — The next monthly New Gloucester History Barn Open House will be on Saturday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Intervale Road, Route 231 behind the Town Hall.

The exhibits will feature displays about New Gloucester veterans, new acquisitions and framed historic archival photographs. Admission is free. Sponsored by the New Gloucester Historical Society.

MECHANIC FALLS —  The Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, will present a free education program, “Know the 10 Signs,” from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 5, at Bucknam Oaks SeniorCenter, 11 Bucknam St.

This family education program aims to increase awareness of the warning signs of Alzheimer’s and outlines the benefits of early detection and early diagnosis.

WLU scholarships

AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union of Auburn will award two $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors of high schools in Androscoggin County who plan to enter the field of arts and literature.

Application materials include a completed WLU scholarship form, an essay on “Why I am interested in the field of arts and literature,” a four-year high school transcript and a guidance counselor or school administrator letter of recommendation.

The recipients will be selected on the basis of scholarship, citizenship and financial need. The amount of the scholarship will be sent to the college bursar after the winner has successfully earned a 2.6 GPA or better for his or her first semester of college work. Applications are available through school guidance departments or online at womansliteraryunion.org.

All completed applications must be in the school’s guidance department hands no later than March 26 to be considered.

Arabic poetry

LEWISTON — Celebrate International Women’s Day with a community Arabic poetry reading from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at the Lewiston Public Library third floor conference room.

Attendees are invited to bring a poem or poems either in Arabic or translated.
