CANTON — Whitney Lodge 167 of Canton will hold a stated meeting on Thursday, March 1. There will be a casserole supper at 6:30 p.m. and the Lodge opening at 7:30 p.m.
Girl Scout tea
BETHEL — The Telstar Service Unit Girl Scouts are joining in the nationwide celebration of Girl Scout’s 100th anniversary celebration. On May 6, they will host a tea which they hope will serve 100 Girl Scout alumni from the local area.
In order to send out invitations, the troop is seeking addresses from anybody who was ever a member or a leader. Sno-Goers meeting
ANDOVER — Snow Valley Sno-Goers will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at the clubhouse. All are welcome.
Historical society
PERU — The Peru Historical Society will meet on Tuesday, March 13, at the home of Robert and Shirley Dolloff at 6:30 p.m. There will be a potluck supper.
Fish fry
RUMFORD — Holy Savior School will host their third annual Friday Fish Fry on March 16, from 5 p.m. until sold out, at Holy Savior (St. A & St. J) Parish Hall, 126 Maine Ave.
Menu includes fried fresh haddock, snowflake potatoes, rolls, homemade cole slaw, homemade desserts and drinks. Optional is homemade mac and cheese. Adults, $9; kids under 10, $6; 3 and under eat free. Takeout available. For large takeout orders, call the school in advance to schedule a pickup time. Colon cancer workshop
RUMFORD — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing and Rumford Hospital will present a free workshop for anyone interested in learning about colon cancer. “Fighting Colon Cancer” will take place Tuesday, March 20, from noon to 1 p.m. at Rumford Hospital, Conference Room C.
Dr. Nicholette Erickson will focus on the little discussed but very important organ, the colon. Colon cancer is the second leading cause of death for both men and women in Maine. Colon cancer, however, is preventable. Learn ways to reduce risk, the importance of screening and new research for treating colon cancer.
