Career workshop

AUBURN — Nancy Gagne of Baystate Financial Services will present a one-hour workshop on how to Financially Survive a Career Transition at noon Thursday, March 1, at the Auburn Public Library. The workshop will provide essential skills to survive the transition period of a lost job or a job change.

Focus areas of the workshop include how to utilize strategies to help reduce cash flow requirements, restructure debt to make it more manageable and how to establish an accurate and working budget for the transition period. Everyone who attends the workshop will receive a full-color 20 page workbook packed with worksheets, exercises and questions designed to help make sound financial decisions during employment transition.

Juggler, illusionist

AUBURN — A performance by Rick Hagerstrum, Christian juggler and illusionist, has been rescheduled due to storm. The family night out will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Turner Street Community Church, 263 Turner St.

Hagerstrum has a unique way of teaching Bible truths and stories through illusions. Light refreshments will be served immediately following the program. All are welcome. Free admission.

Historical party

LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Historical Society hosted its annual Valentines Day Party on Feb. 8 at the MTM Center, 18 School St. The event included a swap of many fine hand-crafted Valentine cards. Singing, poetry readings, games and fellowship highlighted the evening.

Robert Stewart won a beautifully framed “American Rose” photo for guessing the number of candies in a jar. Peggy Fournier won a vase of silk and chocolate roses for the most correct answers in a game of “Finish the Title of This Love Song,” from a list of 40 songs. Games and prizes were provided by local photographers, Don and Beverly Boyer. The event concluded with refreshments donated by members of the society.

Leadership course

AUBURN — The Corporate and Community Services department at Central Maine Community College will offer Lead Like a Champion on Tuesday, March 13, from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost of the class is $79 and includes materials.

In this course, participants will develop self-leadership practices to facilitate authentic team leadership.

This non-credit course is open to anyone currently trying to maximize performance by creating team cohesion in the workplace. Registration for this course is open and ongoing, however space is limited. Resilience workshop

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free resilience workshop for cancer survivors and caregivers. “Response-Ability: Mental Toughness and Resilience” will take place Tuesday, March 6, from 4 to 5 p.m. at CMMC, 12 High St., Conference Room H.

Resilience is a key competency in any type of performance. It is a mental fundamental that can be learned. Producing the right response during adversity requires great emotional skill. This is “response ability.” Presenter John Brubaker will teach how to not just cope but to bounce back from setbacks, pain and disappointment.
