FARMINGTON — Jeanne D’arc Couillard, 87, a resident of Main Street, Jay, died Monday, April 2, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 8, 1925, in Saint-Marcel, Province of Quebec, the daughter of Maxim and Josephine (Fortin) Belanger. She attended school in Canada.

On July 11, 1945, she married her husband of 36 years, Honorat Couillard. He passed away Feb. 15, 1982.

She and her husband relocated to Maine in 1969. Jeanne had worked at Norwalk in North Jay and Bass Shoe in Wilton; she retired at age 60. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. Jeanne enjoyed walking, gardening and sitting relaxing, she especially loved time spent with her family.

She is survived by her son, Yvon Couillard and his wife, Alberta, of Jay; her daughters, Lisa Fournier of Jay and Lucille Partridge and her husband, Don, of Wilton; her brother, Jean Guy Belanger of St. Lucie; her sisters, Yvette Couillard of Montmagny, Province of Quebec, Marguerite Bernier and her husband, Jacque, of Saint-Pamphile, Province of Quebec, and Aline Proulx and her husband, Moise, of Saint-Paul, Province of Quebec; four grandchildren, Rene and Michael Couillard and Karen McDonald and Brian Fournier; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Omer, Real, Cerile, Clermont and Donald Belanger; and her sister-in-law, Anita Belanger.
