LEWISTON — Do you have a workplace policy that prohibits “inappropriate discussions?” That prohibits “disparaging remarks?” That prohibits posting the company’s logo online? That states that employees cannot discuss information about other employees on line? That says an inability or unwillingness to work harmoniously with other employees could be a basis for discipline?

If so, you may have a policy that violates the National Labor Relations Act.

Such issues are gaining more public attention, particularly as companies deal with employee conduct online, instituting policies that address communications via social media such as Facebook, MySpace, Linkedin and online blogs.

The Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce will hold a program on the topic from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Chamber of Commerce, 415 Lisbon St. The program will feature Rosemary Pye, the National Labor Relations Board’s regional director from Boston.

Attendees who have particular issues they would like to address at the forum can e-mail Rebecca Webber at [email protected] ahead of time.
