LEWISTON — Vivian J. Belanger, 93, of Lewiston, passed away on Friday, March 30, at Marshwood Health Center, with her family by her side.

She was born in Lisbon in her grandmother’s home, June 5, 1918, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Lizotte) Girard. She graduated from Lisbon High School. After graduating from high school, Vivian worked at Bates Mill, then furthered her education and became a CNA, working at St. Mary’s Hospital and later at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

She was married to Alfred Belanger, who passed away in 1973.  She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and previously attended the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Vivian was an avid Red Sox fan and never missed a game on TV. She was a diabetic with a sweet tooth and loved crossword puzzles. She was very proud of the many accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.

Although Alzheimer’s had robbed her of her memory, she knew when she was surrounded by love and never lost her ability to spell. Vivian had the biggest heart and did many things to keep her family close by her side, opening her home in the times of need and caring for those who needed it the most. Her life will always be remembered and her love will never be forgotten.

Vivian is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Hall and her husband, Samuel, of Greene; her son, Donald Gamache of Mechanic Falls; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Belanger; two daughters, Linda Bodger and Rachel Allen; and two brothers, Roger Girard and Herman Girard.
