Enrollment for pre-K and K
TURNER — RSU 52 is accepting registrations for pre-K and kindergarten students not currently enrolled. Parents should call the school in the town where the child resides: Turner Primary School, 225-3655; Leeds Central School, 524-5151; and Greene Central School, 946-5681.
For pre-K, each child must be 4 years old on or before Oct. 15. An original birth certificate, proof of residency and immunization records will be required at registration.
One session will take place all day Monday and Wednesday and one session will take place all day Tuesday and Thursday.
For kindergarten, a child must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15. An original birth certificate, proof of residency and immunization records will be required at registration.
Students attend five full days a week.
Conversation about diversity
LEWISTON — USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College invites the public to join in a Community Conversation about Diversity, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in room 170, 51 Westminster St. People will be able to share their experiences with diversity – both at USM LAC and within the L-A community, as well as what people can do to encourage diverse backgrounds, viewpoints and perspectives.
Facilitators for this event will be Joyce Gibson, dean of LAC, and Linda Silka, director of the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center. Co-sponsors for the event include USM LAC’s Community Engagement and Diversity Action Group and USM LAC’s Student Government Association. Participants should bring a lunch; beverages and dessert provided.

Lisbon Historical to hold meeting
LISBON FALLS — On March 14, The Lisbon Historical Society hosted guest speaker, Jo-Jean Keller, librarian at the Lisbon Falls Community Library. The topic was “Preparing for the 2012 Summer Reading Program – Link to a Lisbon Adventure.”
Keller captivated her audience with a game of Lisbon history questions and a game of guessing Lisbon landmarks from recent partial-photos. Peggy Fournier had the most correct answers for the history questions. Merton Ricker and Alfred L. Smith tied on knowing the most landmarks. Anita Guay was the winner for wearing the most green in recognition of St. Patrick’s Day. Refreshments and fellowship concluded the evening.
On Wednesday, April 11, the group will hold its annual Antiques Night at 7 p.m. at the MTM Center, 18 School St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Parking and entrance is in the rear of the building. Free and open to the public.
Gardener to be presenter
LEWISTON — Rosy Hayden, master gardener, will be the presenter at the USM Lewiston/Auburn Senior College “Food for Thought” 11:30 luncheon on Friday, April 13.
Her topic, “Shade Gardening in Zone 4,” will include discussions on soil requirements, determining degree of shade, starting new gardens, revising existing beds and varieties of shade perennial plants and shrubs.

Senior College, now in its 13th year, presents the monthly 11:30 luncheon program in the Function Room 170 at USM LAC. The cost, which includes lunch, is $7 with advance reservation or $8 at the door. Reservations must be made by noon on April 12 by calling 753-6510. Any late callers will be considered “at the door.”
Support, prayer group to start
AUBURN — A Cancer Prayer and Support Group will be held at 6 p.m. the third Monday of the month starting April 16 at the United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave.
The group is open to anyone who has cancer, is a caregiver or is interested in being a friend.
