Kindergarten screening

HARTFORD — Hartford-Sumner Elementary School, serving the towns of Hartford, Sumner and Buckfield, will hold kindergarten registration and screening for the 2012 kindergarten class from 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, and Thursday, April 12. All children who register must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15.

To register contact the Hartford-Sumner Elementary School’s office at 388-2681. Be prepared to provide the child’s name, address, telephone number and date of birth. An official copy of the child’s birth certificate is required at the screening, which lasts approximately one hour.

All students must be registered and screened prior to enrollment, including current preschoolers.

Spying, codes at library

NORWAY — Children ages 7 through 12 are invited to explore the world of spies from 1 to 2:15 p.m. April 16-20 at the Norway Memorial Library. Each day children can learn about spies and practice spying skills, including codes and secret writing.

On Monday, April 16, author Paul Janeczko will lead the program. Kids can meet him and learn about his book, “Top Secret.”

The Spies, Codes, and Ciphers program is free for all participants. Preregistration is required; only the first 25 kids will be able to participate. For more information about programs or to register, call the Norway Memorial Library Children’s Room at 743-5309, ext. 4.
